Can't find DAO350.DLL file Error in Vb6

Problem/Error

When you try to open visual basic application in windows 7, You may get the error saying Visual Basic can not find the DAO350.DLL file.

The reason for this error is that in windows 7, new version of file is installed - dao360.dll
You can view this file at below location on windows 7.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\DAO

In windows XP, this file exists, So you will not get this error.

Solution
To fix this issue, you will have to search for the DAO350.dll file in the visual basic installation folder.
Then copy this file to the below location.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\DAO

After this you will have to register this file using below command in the command prompt.

regsvr32 "c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\dao\dao350.dll"

Please note that you will have to run command prompt as administrator. To run command prompt as the administrator, you will have to right click and then click on the "Run as Administrator"

After you run above command you should get the dll register successful message.
If you do not run the command prompt as Administrator,     You will get error saying module was loaded but call to dllregisterserver failed.

Ms access provider not displaying in ODBC manager in windows 7 64-bit OS

Problem

When we try to create a DSN in windows 7 with 64 bit, the drivers for the microsoft access is not visible.
Only sql server drivers are displayed.


Solution

To solve this issue you must launch the ODBC driver dialog window using below exe file.

c:\windows\sysWOW64\odbcad32.exe

When you open the ODBC manager from above exe file, all 32-bit drivers are displayed including ms-acess (.mdb and .accdb ) and you can create a dsn for access database.

QTP 10 and Browser Compatibility on windows 7

QTP 10 supports IE8, IE9 and IE10 on windows 7 operating system But for that we need to install below patches.

1. 00644  - QTP 10 -  Windows 7
2. 00037 –QTP 10 - Windows 7 -IE 8

For QTP 11, we need patch qtpweb_00078 for  IE09 support

QTP identifies the webobjects as winobjects

Sometimes QTP fails to identify the objects as expected.

For example, If we are testing the web application, QTP must identify the objects inside page as webobjects like webedit, webcheckbox

But QTP identifies these objects as winobjects. Similarly if you are working on the .Net based application, Objects should be identified like swfwindow, swfbutton etc.

But again QTP identifies the objects as winobjects.

Solution : To make sure that QTP identifies the objects correctly, we need to check below things.

1. Ensure that appropriate add-in is installed. For example For .Net application, we must have .Net Add-In installed.
2. Start QTP before application under test(AUT).

If above 2 steps do not work then we can try below things that I found on internet.

1.       Record and run on any browser

2.       Uncheck enable protected modes

3.       Disable UAC from Control Panel

4.       Tool->Options->Restore Layout and try

unable to discover open pages error in selenium webdriver

One fine day I started getting this error. After searching online, I found that this error comes when the webdriver is very old.

I was using the chrome browser and chrome driver version was 2.3. I downloaded the latest chromedriver with 2.8 version located at http://chromedriver.storage.googleapis.com/index.html

This solved my problem.

Salary of qtp engineers in India

Hello friends,
In this post, I am going to tell you approximate salary of QTP engineers in India as of 2014.
Well - Salary for the QTP professionals depends upon the experience.

1. upto 2 years of experience - 4 lacs per annum
2. 2-4 years of experience - 4-7 lacs per annum
3. 4-6 years of experience - 7-9 lacs per annum
4. 6-10 years of experience - 9 - 12 lacs per annum.

Please remember that salary structure also depends upon the company in which you are working. Large investment banks like JPMC, BNP Paribas, Morgan Stanley and product based companies like sungard, symantec tend to pay little bit higher than service based companies like Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro etc.

Software engineers usually switch the companies to get a good hike in salary. They usually get 20-50 % hike depending upon market sentiments and economy state.

Please note that salary of the software workers mentioned above is in indian rupees. Salary of QTP engineers is different in other countries.

Quick test professional has stopped working windows 7 debug close

Quick test professional has stopped working with buttons debug and close.
When you try to start QTP 10 in windows 7 operating system, you may get above mentioned error.
Reinstalling QTP will not fix the problem.

Solution :

To fix above issue you must right click on short cut icon of QTP and then select troubleshoot compatibility.
Windows will search for incompatibility problems and then try to provide you with recommended settings. Please select recommended settings and then apply.

This will fix your issue and you will be able to launch the QTP 10 or 11 in Windows 7 or Windows 8 without any problem.
