Commonly misspelt words in English

There are many words with confusing spellings in English. This is due to the different spellings in American and British (Australian) English language.

Words Ending with -ize and - ise
American English uses the form - Organization while British English uses Organisation.

Understanding IELTS Score Card

IELTS scores are given in the form of Band from 1 - 9.

Higher band means you have an excellent command over English Language. You can view the meaning of each band on British Council Website.

Please note below points pertaining to Bands.

  1. Each country has a different criteria with reference to the band. For example - To be able to apply for skilled visa 190 for Australia, you should score a band of 7 or above in each section of IELTS. While for Canada immigration, you need to score 7 and above in all sections except Listening Section in which you will need to score at least 7.5
  2. Requirements of Band scores is also based upon the kind of course you will be attending or occupation you will be working abroad. Teaching occupation usually require higher band scores.
  3. IELTS scores requirements are also dependant upon the colleges as well.

You should always aim to get the highest band in each section as it will help you rank higher to other applicants and you will also get a Visa without much hassles.
