Trip to Shivneri fort

Hello friends - In this post I am going to share my experience about the trip I had to Shivneri - Birth Place of Maratha warrior - Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Shivneri fort is situated around 90 KM away from Pune off Pune-Nasik Highway. I had with me 3 of my friends.

We started at 8 in the morning from pimple saudagar in pune.
We took the breakfast in the mid way at Purohit Restaurant located just where the ghat ends.
Food was very good and under winter sunlight  it was really joyful experience.

After the breakfast, we resumed our journey and then reached shivneri fort at around 10.30 after taking left turn at narayngaon off the pune-nasik highway. Road is not very wide but it is ok. There is no traffic either.

It takes around 1 hour to climb up the fort. There are many gates you will have to cross before you reach the top of the fort.

I advise you to take short rests while climbing up the fort.

It is me sitting right on the top of the extreme wall of shivneri fort.

This is the birth place of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj right on the top of the fort.

You could get to see beautiful scenary from the top of the shivneri fort.
Finally we started climbing down the fort at 2 PM. 

There are 2 very famous ganapati temples near shivneri fort - lenyandir and Ozhar. So if you are planning to go to shivneri, do not forget to get the blessings of  God ganapati.

If you are staying in pune, you can go for a one day trip to Shivneri.
