Let us understand the difference between Gerund and Infinitives.

- Infinitive is basic form of verb. For example - to swim, to shop
- Gerund is the noun form of Verb. For example - swimming, shopping
We use gerunds in below scenarios.
- As a Subject - Swimming is good.
- After prepositions - before, after, while
- After certain verbs like enjoy, love, suggest, avoid, like etc
Examples -
- I like swimming.
- I went shopping.
- She likes listening to the music.
- Playing helps you maintain the body.
- Writing is my hobby.
- I enjoy running.
