Questions in English Grammar

Questions are used to get the information that you do not know.

There are 2 types of questions at the broad level.

1. "Wh" type questions
2. Yes/No questions

"Wh" type questions

"Wh" questions usually start with "Wh".

1. what 
2. when
3. where
4. How
5. why

For example - 

1. What is your name?
2. What do you do?
3. How did you study?
4. How long does it take 
5. How long have you been working?
6. When is he coming?
7. Where was hotel located?
8. Why did not he invite sachin for wedding.

Answers to such questions are not known to us and we can not predict the answers as well.

"Yes/No" type questions

These type of questions are used when we expect the answer in Yes or No.

For example - 

1. Do you like watching movies?
2. Do you eat sea food?
3. Do you go to school?
4. did you pass in an exam?
5. Have you finished the task?
6. Are you going to study abroad?
